Privacy Policy
What LiveTrainTracker collects, why, and the choices you have.
Effective date: October 7, 2026
About this policy
This policy explains how LiveTrainTracker handles personal information. The site is run from the European Union, so the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. The policy also gives the information required by the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).
Who is responsible
LiveTrainTracker is run by an individual, who is responsible for the personal information described here:
- Name
- Tommaso De Rosa
- Address
- Viale Certosa 152, 20151 Milano (MI), Italy
- [email protected]
What we collect and why
You don't need an account to use LiveTrainTracker, and the site doesn't use advertising cookies. This is everything it processes:
- When you visit any page
Our servers and our network provider record standard technical data: your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, the date and time, and any errors. We use it to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems. When a request comes from a recognized AI crawler or an AI platform link, we also record the source name, page path, browser identification and time in our own database to understand those visits.
- Error reports
If a page breaks in your browser, it can send a report to our own error monitoring service. Reports contain the page address, the error message and technical browser details. Error context may contain incidental information; contact us if you want a report reviewed or removed.
- Train alerts (optional)
This site does not send train alerts and does not accept new alert subscriptions through its interface. Push addresses, encryption keys and train alert settings from earlier subscriptions may still be stored. Contact us to request their removal. Do not expect notifications from this site.
- Your location (optional)
If you tap "Find nearby stations" and allow it, your browser sends your approximate location to our server to find the closest stations. We don't save it in our database, but it can appear for a short time in our technical logs. Your browser can cache the coordinates to reuse them for nearby searches. That record stays on your device until it is replaced or you clear site storage.
- Data kept on your device
Favorites, recent searches, display settings and a small visit counter stay in your browser's storage and are not sent to us. The refund request assistant works the same way: what you type stays in your browser.
- Usage statistics (Google Analytics)
With your consent, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site, such as the pages you view and the type of device you use. If you say no, it receives only limited measurements sent without cookies.
Cookies
LiveTrainTracker sets two cookies of its own: one remembers your language until you close your browser, and one remembers your light or dark theme for one year. A sign-in cookie is used only by the site administrator. The Cookie Policy has the details.
Who else receives information
We share information only with the services that make the site work:
- Cloudflare, Inc.
Carries and protects all traffic to the site, so it processes your IP address and request data.
- Google LLC
We load Google's privacy and consent tool on every page. It can show privacy choices where the law requires them, and if it does, it stores your answer in its own cookies. Loading it sends your IP address and browser data to Google.
- Google Analytics (Google LLC)
Measures how the site is used, only as described above.
- CARTO
The home page and the map page first show a placeholder. The interactive map loads as soon as you scroll or touch the page or click the map, and right away when the page is opened for a specific train. Your browser then loads map data from CARTO, which receives your IP address, browser details and the map areas requested.
- Your browser's push service
Notification delivery is inactive on this site. Earlier subscriptions may still refer to a browser or device push service, such as Google, Apple or Mozilla; no train alerts are currently dispatched.
- Affiliate partners
Some links are ads, labeled "Ad," for Omio (train tickets) and eSIMX (mobile data). If you click one, the click goes through Impact (impact.com), which records it so the partner can pay us a commission. The partner's site may then set its own cookies. Nothing is sent to them unless you click.
We don't sell or rent personal information. We share the technical information needed to provide the services described above with those service providers. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Online tracking and Do Not Track
The site does not change its behavior in response to a browser's Do Not Track signal. The third-party services and affiliate websites described above apply their own privacy policies and may collect information when you use them. With your consent, Google Analytics measures how you use this site. You can withdraw that consent with Manage cookies.
Legal bases (GDPR)
- Our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f))
Running and securing the site, server logs, error reports, maps and the consent tool.
- Your request (Art. 6(1)(b))
Finding nearby stations at your request. Earlier train alert settings may remain stored; notification delivery is inactive on this site.
- Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a))
Usage statistics with Google Analytics. You can withdraw your consent at any time with the "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of every page.
How long we keep information
- Technical server logs rotate automatically as new logs arrive. AI-related visit records are stored separately for site analysis; contact us about their retention or removal.
- Error reports: retained while needed to diagnose and prevent faults. Contact us to ask about a report or request its deletion.
- Train alert settings: kept until you remove them or unsubscribe. Contact us to request removal of saved push data.
- Google Analytics data: retained according to the property's configured retention settings. Contact us for details.
- Data on your device: until you clear it in your browser.
Transfers outside the EU
Cloudflare and Google are based in the United States and certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. CARTO and the push services may also process data outside the EU; their own privacy policies explain the safeguards they use.

Under the GDPR, you can ask us to:

- stop using it where we rely on our legitimate interest
